Finding your ZEN

Do we “find” our Zen…or does Zen find us? In other posts and on many of my other sites…I elude to ZEN. I have used it as an acronym and as a metaphor. Do I define Zen, in alignment with others…no…true Zen cannot be defined by another…that is what I have taken away from the studies, classes, texts and Aikdo training that I have engaged in over the years. Those that are Yoga Purists (in the critical, judgmental sense), question…well if there is corruption of the interpretation of Yoga, surely this fella taints all contexts and concepts inclusive of ZEN. Preparing for “the road ahead”

There is this myth out there that men can never admit that they are lost and in need of stopping and asking for directions. (I say it is a myth as I know there are some guys reading this who are sensitive souls…my son included) Meanwhile, if I say that I always know where I am going, for sure my kids would love to slap a comment down here that would humble their Dad. I also figure my student’s would love to see the humility inherent in them sharing how I often rely on them to clarify…”so what was I just talking about”….”so where was I going with this?”. (more…)

“Expressing” life, emancipation of the senses…

What do you get when you “fuse” Hip-Hop with YOGA?

Well, I recommend you try it for yourself, and not just try to “feel” what I am putting forward here. There is without question a quiet revolution happening. Even if it were just in our hearts and minds, it would be “liberating”. I do feel strongly that we are “witnessing” others express the new “sense of self”…as the revolution is actually the evolution of mind, body, spirit (and music) integration…some might say heightened …”sensuality”…(I like to say “Zensuality). There truly is “transcendence possible” when one allows the body to feel what the mind and spirit wish to express. I know this scares some people (those with deep religious convictions about sexuality)…but it really does little to bury one’s head in the sand…or to metaphorically “board up the doors” of church, temple or mosque…as we visibly see…that younger generations (and some of us older folk) get more comfortable moving amongst the opposite gender in free and expressive ways. Quantum Nursing Theory Realized

Just as the “Big Bang Theory”, evolved in response of scientists needing to explain how the earth and greater Universe aligned itself into near perfect “shape” and “synchronicity”. Yes, nearly perfect it how it performs its greater function…that is to provide the physics, chemistry, biology and for us close and personal (here on earth) the ecology to sustain the life as it finds itself…in this moment in time.

If we apply “quantum” physics…in fact Quantum sciences in its many possible forms (biology and ecology studies are needed to take such a Quantum leap, to get everyone on the same page as the importance of our own survival, is to re-define our relationships to mother earth, as well as the sun, moon, and everything else celestial).

The age of “nano-technology” is here, and is largely responsible for us to develop “knowledge and expand our collective consciousness”. This “collective” (with collaboration desired if not absolutely essential)…first need to go “nano” before the expansion to Quantum can be realized. I could speak to all “life scientists” here, but few appreciate a perspective that did not reach their ears in an academic centre. The collaboration “possible”, is the hardest part…and may need the “Big Bang” to settle the chaos, into a well functioning “synchronized” organism. (more…)

The Tapestry of our lives

I always enjoy reflecting on current events and then using a metaphor, to help make sense of it all, in a poetic way. It is my way of expressing my inner most thoughts and feelings…in a form of code…or cryptic message. Many have reached out to me lately (you know who you are) that has brought great inspiration. Many of these messages (I do get mixed messages, just as you do) enter into my life as if threads of intent, into a large “loom”. (For my kids, think of Henry Ford Museum visits and Greenfield Village, with the giant wooden “contraption” as your Grandpa would say), in which fabric or rugs were made, some two hundred years ago. Many colours, many textures, not always my favourite, but in the bigger scheme of things, it often comes out looking gorgeous, unigue, and artistic…there for many to appreciate…till boredom sets in. When ‘Autumn’ comes a callin’

Autumn does make for a great metaphor, especially with all the “change” that is in the air, or for some of us, signs of aging. While I resist the notion that my physical appearance has to match that of my spirit (or heart, in that sense) I have to maintain a resilience more associated with youth, or the proverbial “spring chicken”. For many who read this who live in my “locale”, a record high autumn, further erodes the notion that “climate change” as a myth. (more…)

Happy Thanksgiving

To all, family and friends (If you are a client/patient or student University or otherwise, you are either family or friend…you decide).

May you all enjoy the day…it is hot here, wow…has been all week-end…get out and smell some roses there is likely to be some still around…and yeah…get stuffed…without the guilt…enjoy a nap…walk it all off tomorrow…that is the ritual..okay…lol.

Love you all,

Dave

In our “thanks-giving”

So much to reflect upon, so much to write about…and all the while absorbing the blanket of “colouring” that is the tapestry of our landscape this time of year. While spring…and the blossoming of renewal and regeneration, represents “newness”, we can hardly use a contrasting depiction of what fall (autumn) represents…who would think of suggesting deterioration or depreciation.

The “smathering” of colours, many artist have tried to depict, yet there is never the same “sensory” feeling as hearing the crunching and wisping of leaves across a parks grassy carpet, with the true visual, spanning out before you. I think of Gatineau, in all its splendor at this time…or Algonquin Park or the Muskoska’s splendor. We can be thankful for the faculties to enjoy the same…and the freedom to travel in a country so vast, so diverse and so “natural”. We should never take this for granted…we in fact should demonstrate the level of stewardship that our environment, our ecology is deserving. (more…)
